Panic Attack Self Help

Panic attack is a terrible thing to suffer, many people try to avoid medications because of possible side effects and dependency and try panic attack self-help options.

The effects of these panic attacks can be worse over time, leaving the sufferers feeling helpless because of their condition.  This often leads to isolation and avoidance of situation and environment that the person thinks relates to the panic attacks.

For the majority, it is a living hell.

How does Panic Attack Self-Help Programs Work?

Available panic attack self-help programs teach you self-help skills and techniques to make overcoming panic attacks possible.  These programs often offer you a step by step guide on how to properly manage your symptoms and stay relaxed and how to handle the fear about the symptoms (the fear about fear).

They provide mental resources to help you deal with the situations you used to avoid before.  Some self-help programs will even educate you about the use of medications to treat panic attacks and panic disorder and teach you how to work properly with your doctor to identify and control the symptoms.

Are These Self Help Programs Effective?

Self-help programs have been found effective for the treatment of panic attacks according to a study made in 1994 by Drs. Gould and Clum, however keep in mind that this is not an option that will suit everyone.

Individuals who find success with self-help programs are the ones who can put action and make changes without the need of a doctor’s intervention.  There are people who learn the skills better when told by another person such as the doctor.
